The stained glass windows and other intricate decorations tended to be added during periods that it was 'Catholic'. When it was 'Protestant' the church was decorate in a plainer fashion. In 1554, when Catholisism was in favour, the parish spent large amounts of money on robes for the clergy, replacing the altars, on crosses and candle-sticks.
